- The National Training Awards (NTA) identify and celebrate organisations and individuals that have achieved really outstanding business and personal success through investment in training. The Awards support the Government's commitment to lifelong learning.
- UK Skills manages the Awards on behalf of the Department for Business, Innovation and Skills (BIS) in England, the Welsh Assembly Government, the Department for Employment and Learning Northern Ireland, Scottish Government and Skills Development Scotland.
- The National Training Awards include the following categories: Large Employer (250 +), Medium Employer (50-249), Small Employer (49 and under), Providing Education and Training, Partnership and Collaboration, Individual and Now is The Time.
- The 'Now is the Time' category was introduced in 2009 by Ministers of England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland to honour and recognise those companies who have invested in skills as a direct result of the recession. It will continue to be a category in 2010.
- The National Training Awards support the international skills competition WorldSkills, which comes to London in 2011, the Skills Pledge and the training delivered by organisations working on the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games.
