The judging process

The National Training Awards are highly respected and valued because of our rigorous and objective 3 stage judging process.
Once entries have been received, they are first assessed and scored by a team of trained NTA assessors. For your entry to be successful at this stage you will need to:
- Include all of the evidence as stated on the entry form
- Show a clear link between the learning and the benefits of the training
- Describe the evidence that supports your story. Please note that you may be asked to make this available during an on-site visit from the Judges if you are selected as a finalist
Entries which reach the minimum standard required for NTA judging then proceed on to stage 2 - regional judging.
You will receive written confirmation from us in June to let you know whether your entry has been successful in progressing forward to stage 2.
The UK National Training Award winning entries from every region will then progress onto stage 3 - the UK judging panel. The UK Judges select:
- One UK National Training Award Winner of the Year in each category, the highest level of achievement and the most inspirational across the UK
These awards will be announced and celebrated at the UK National Training Awards Gala ceremony in December 2010.
At the first judging panel Judges select the finalists in each category. These finalists then receive an on-site visit from the Judges in June or July. The exact time period for your region will be confirmed when we acknowledge receipt of your entry so you can plan your availability accordingly.
The purpose of this visit is for the Judges to verify what you have written and to gather further knowledge and evidence of your success. We would recommend good preparation so you can get the most out of this time with the Judges! If you are selected for an on-site visit you will be provided with further written guidance beforehand.
As you write your entry, we suggest that you gather evidence of your success so it is ready for this visit. In this way the Judges can readily verify what you have written and see any additional evidence that is relevant.
The Judges then meet for a second time to select the following:
- Regional Training Award winners (an unlimited number, considered to be outstanding)
- UK National Training Award winners (category winners, a maximum of one per category but only if they are considered to be truly exceptional. Not all regions will make an Award at this level in all categories)
Finalists will then be announced in July and invited to attend their regional ceremony, which will be held across the UK from September to November, they will find out on the night if they have won one of the above awards.
